Haddington Society of Change Ringers

The bells

The bells were cast by Warners in 1911 for the Coronation of George V. They are one of the few complete Warner eights still in existence.

After hanging for several decades at Dunecht House, Aberdeenshire, they were bought by the Scottish Association of Change Ringers in the late 90s.

Subsequently, plans were made for them to be hung as a new installation at St Mary’s Parish Church, Haddington, as one of the UK-wide installations to celebrate the turn of the millenium. This was made by generous support from the SACR and the Friends of St Mary’s.

With a tenor weighing 11 cwt, the bells are ideal for general ringing, for peals, and especially for teaching. They are highly regarded, being easy to ring and having a fine tone.
