About us

We are a friendly society of church bell ringers, based at the fine old parish church of St Mary’s Haddington, East Lothian. We are affiliated to the Scottish Association of Change Ringers (SACR).

We ring to serve the community of churches in Haddington, and for pleasure. We usually have
a one-day outing sometime during the year to ring other church bells elsewhere in Scotland or in northern England. We also meet for an annual dinner in the summer.

We ring for Sunday services, weddings and other special occasions.

Change ringing is a rewarding activity with a long history. It involves gentle physical and mental exercise and is very sociable! It is possible to learn to ring at almost any age, from about ten onwards. We cater for all abilities and are very happy to teach learners - see the bell-ringing page to find out more. Visiting ringers are always welcome to join our practice or ring with us on Sunday mornings. See our contacts page if you would like to get in touch.

We ring on Sundays from 9.00am - 9.30am and practice on Friday evenings (7.30pm - 9.30pm).

We sometimes arrange additional practices on Saturday mornings. Contact us to check.

The eight bells were installed at the turn of the millennium. The largest weighs about 11 cwt or about 500 kg; the bells are just over 100 years old, cast in 1911 by Warner & Sons.
